Voice Coach
We're looking for a Voice Coach who can do two things at once: build a real, trusting relationship with the singer in front of them, and guide that singer through a structured developmental model refined over years of teaching.
Phoenix Voice Academy is the singing arm of the Phoenix Institute for Performing Arts. We've built a clear voice development system (our SGVT methodology) and our own operations platform (StageHand) so that your energy goes where it actually matters, which is the singer. The framework gives you a map. The platform gives you the tools. Your job is to bring both alive in the room.
This is not a role where you invent your whole approach from scratch, and it's not a role where you read from a script. It's the place in between, and it's a deliberate one. We will train you fully on both the method and the platform.
A word on how we work together, because it matters as much as the work itself. We operate in good faith. We assume the best of each other, we take problems straight to the person who can fix them rather than around them, and we lift the room rather than weigh it down. It's a small, intentional team, and that's a deliberate choice.
One more thing, and it's the quiet heart of this. If you're the kind of teacher who has always wished for real structure underneath you, who sees a good method as a gift rather than a cage, this might be exactly yours. The artistry and the warmth this role lives on are hard to teach but easy to recognize in someone who already loves the work.
What you'd own
- One-to-one voice lessons, bringing the method alive with warmth, motivation, and real artistry
- Each singer's developmental journey - where they are, where they're going next, the showcase pulling it forward
- A genuine, trusting relationship that makes a singer want to keep singing
- A parent who hears, every week, how their child is getting on.
- Running every lesson from the StageHand Lesson Management page, the structured spine of the session
- Keeping each student's voice profile, notes, and recordings current after every lesson
Not on your plate
- Inventing the developmental path - the method gives you the map
- Building the curriculum or the platform - that's already here, and you'll be trained on both
- Billing, scheduling admin, and parent operations - the system and PVA leadership hold those
You won't be dropped in cold
Onboarding runs on two tracks together. Platform first: a practical walk-through of StageHand and the Lesson Management page, so logging in, finding your students, and running a lesson from the page becomes second nature. That comes first because it removes the friction.
Method alongside it: the SGVT layer, which builds over time with training videos and reference tools you'll keep ongoing access to. The goal is for you to feel fluent in both, so the structure fades into the background and the singer comes to the front.
Who thrives here
- A real teacher. Proven experience as a singer, voice teacher, or vocal coach, ideally across a range of ages and abilities, with strong musicianship and a trained ear for range, registration, and resonance.
- Open to a method. You're glad to teach inside a defined methodology rather than only your own, and you see that structure as support, not a constraint.
- Comfortable with technology. You don't need to be technical, but you're the kind of person willing to make a platform a core part of how you teach, because it's what lets the admin disappear.
- Patient and reliable, with a real gift for building relationships with students, including children and teenagers.
- An energetic, positive presence that draws students in - the thing that's hardest to teach and easiest to feel.
What we'll give you
- A genuinely thought-through system - a clear method and a platform that handles the admin, so your energy goes to the singer.
- Room to grow, in an organization with innovation at its core and real opportunities for progression.
- A values-led environment built on integrity, immersive creativity, mutual respect, and uncompromising excellence.
- Work that matters - a lasting impact on the lives of young singers, inside a kind and flourishing community.
